COVID19 and Getting Tested

Trying to get tested for COVID19 is a joke, I've became very ill on Thursday 10 September 2020, and I've been trying for 2 days to get tested...

I may just have a common cold, but the way this hit me, is unlike any other cold I have ever had. Yet I haven't been out anywhere to pubs or town, the only exception is to our local OneStop, PetsatHome and customers houses, yes I said peoples homes, these customers are only existing customers and they have said they have no symptoms, so this tells me either someone was lying or the people that do not wear masks in the shops have spread it about.

So back to the testing, the only way to get booked in for testing is online, So yesterday I filled out the form and it said no Home Tests are available, when it came to selecting a test site, there are no Test Sites available for anyone in the Basingstoke area. So where am I supposed to get tested?
It is also worth noting that according to the NHS, you can only get tested in the first 5 days of having symptoms, so come Monday 14th if i am not tested on that day, then obviously, according to the government I ever had COVID19, because I have not been tested for it therefore I do not have it, regardless of the fact that I may die from it.

Currently as I'm typing this out I have been in a queue to the COVID19 Helpline 119 for over 60 minutes now, and they keep repeating that they cannot offer any other test sites than what is available online.

So if I can't get tested and I have been working in peoples homes, how are my customers supposed to know if I have had it or not.

So juts after an hour and 5 minutes I managed to get through to the call centre on 119.
They are just as useless as the website, it turns out you can not prebook a day/time to get tested.

The Basingstoke Gazette also published a story about Basingstoke residents not being able to access testing, which can be found here https://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/18713851.no-coronavirus-test-appointments-available/ the testing sites that the Gazette reported are not available online, but wouldn't this be stupid as one could spread it around , by stopping for the loo or getting fuel to travel to these places, and what about the driving, with a high fever, I can just nearly walk upstairs to the bathroom, so how the hell am I supposed to drive locally, let alone a round trip of 150miles.

This begs questions,

  1. If we cannot get booked in for a test how do they know the numbers are correct.
  2. Stopping people from getting tested means we cannot get the help we need, Culling the population?
  3.  I said lifting this lockdown as early as they did and not forcing face masks from day 1 is stupid.
  4. Is this just Basingstoke that can't get tested or is this the same for everyone in the UK?
  5. Do I assume that this is a common cold, and carry on as normal, possibly infecting homes as I go, remember I get no financial support from the government.
